It All Starts With Our Farmers

Our Farmer Partners

In 2014, we created the Vita Coco Project to help our farmers create a sustainable future for themselves, their families, and their communities. We're doing that by investing in local farms and educational programs in places around the world. Our farmers give so much to us, so it's only right that we give back to them. Learn more here

What Even Is A Coconut?

Technically speaking, a coconut is a drupe, which means it's a fruit that has a fleshy part surrounded by a shell or hard pit, like plums, cherries, or peaches. Every coconut has four parts: the outer husk, the inner shell, coconut meat, and of course, tasty coconut water. Congrats — you're now a coconut trivia expert.

Where We Source

We started with one farm in Brazil, and now we're proud to work with farmers around the world in Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia.

How We Harvest Our Coconuts

Some of them climb 100-foot tall trees, some of them poke them down with a bamboo machete stick. No matter how they get the coconuts down, our farmers do some seriously cool and seriously professional work in order to bring coconut magic to a store near you.

No Coconut Parts Wasted

As we've learned over the years, there's no part of a coconut that should go to waste. The liquid inside makes up our coconut water, while the coconut meat is used for our coconut oil and coconut milk. Our factories use the shells as a fuel source, and lastly, our farmers place used husks around palm trees as a natural fertilizer. Pretty cool, huh?
