Did you know your kitchen is full of great beauty products? It is. Coconut oil is the perfect hair conditioner and lemons can get rid of those fake tan mishaps. Indeed. We’ve got loads of DIY beauty tips …
TIP 1. KISS IT BABY
Show chapped lips some TLC by mixing brown sugar and coconut oil together for a homemade natural lip balm. Use the mixture to gently buff your pout. The sugar acts as a soft exfoliator and the oil nourishes dry lips. It tastes good too.
TIP 2. PROBLEM SKIN
Potatoes will help. Seriously. If a rogue spot appears and you want to blitz it quick, grab a spud. Wash and slice a raw potato, place one slither on the blemish – secure with a plaster for a few hours (or overnight if you prefer). The starch helps dry the critter up. Works a treat.
TIP 3. LOVE AVOCADO? EAT IT, THEN WEAR IT.
On your elbows. Sounds bonkers, looks bonkers, but works. Eat your avocado then rest an elbow in each half and hang out for about 10 minutes. The superfruit leftovers ditch dryness in a flash.
(Just remember to wash off afterwards.)
TIP 4. LINE ME UP
Need an eyeliner pal to perfect your look. Reach out for … a credit card. Use a credit card to line things up nice and neatly. Draw along one side while resting your elbows on the sink or a table.
TIP 5.FOR FAKE'S SAKE
Love to fake tan, but always making mistakes around your wrists, ankles and creases in the fingers and toes? Don’t panic, rubbing half a lemon over your less than perfect glow spots will break down the tan and let you buff it away into the better areas of tan.
TIP 6.FRIZZ BE GONE
If frizz strikes unexpectedly, head to the utility room and get a tumble dryer sheet. Smooth it over your hair and it will smooth down all those pesky bits. Tresses tamed in an instant.
TIP 7. BROW DOWN B*TCHES
Love a groomed brow and spend ages brushing it into place then filling in with a pencil or powder and highlighting the arch to perfection? Well make sure you’re your hair work stays in place by spritzing some hairspray onto your brow brush and then combing through at the very end. It sets everything in place.
TIP 8. GLOSSY EYE SHADOW
Perfect this season’s pared-back, and oh-so natural beauty trend by prepping your lids with your usual base and powder. Pat a dab of coconut oil with your fingertips onto your lids – and you’re done. The oil’s natural sheen will gleam as it catches the light. Coconut oil is also super nourishing so will hydrate your delicate eyelids as well as making them look gorg.
TIP 9. THINNING OR GREY HAIR AROUND THE ROOTS?
Sssssh, we won’t tell and no-one will know if you reach for your eye-shadow palette. Pick a hue that blends with your natural hair colour and work the shadow over the roots and thin bits, buffing it into the scalp too. Layer up the product, until you get to your desired thickness and/or cover up. Magic.
TIP 10. WANT TO PLUMP UP YOUR POUT WITHOUT GOING ANYWHERE NEAR ANY KIND OF FILLERS?
Do it the natural way with a bit of clever lip liner and highlighter trickery. Trace your lip line with a liner that is almost identical to your lip skin tone – Smashbox and Bare Minerals do some amazing ones. Work the pencil all the way around, adding extra where your lips feel thinner, makes them ever so slightly bigger in those places, not too much though or else it will give the game away. Once you’re happy, fill in the rest of the lip with liner to complete the effect. Then you can style out this matt lip as is or add gloss. Either way, dab a little liquid highlighter above the Cupid’s bow to accentuate your pout.
TIP 11. SUPER SHINY HAIR
The booziest way to get super slick locks. Wash. Pour beer over your tresses. Rinse. Go show off your shine. Simples.
