10 essential things every gal needs for a festival
You've got your wellies, tent and your denim cut-offs. What are the all-important festival beauty essentials? We've got the absolute festival must-haves right here...
1. SPF IS YOUR BEST FRIEND
Even in the UK sun burn is a thing. Every festival should be Fun with a capital F, so it is essential you pack on that sunscreen. The easiest would be something that you only need to apply once – P20 is a good choice because it gives you 10 hours of protection and you wouldn’t need to carry it around with you all day. Don’t let the sun’s rays get ya. And then moisturise. Vita Coco coconut oil is a must-have all over body moisture boost.
2. FACE WIPES ARE CRUCIAL
Face wipes and festivals are the ultimate BFFs. No one has time to wash their face at a festival, so face wipes come in uber handy. You don’t need to spend a fortune either – Simple Facial Cleansing Wipes are less than a fiver and they thoroughly cleanse, tone & freshen your skin (without drying).
3. GLITTER. AND LOTS OF IT.
Ok, so glitter isn’t exactly a must-have festival item, but if you can’t bedazzle yourself at a festival, when can you? In Your Dreams (a brand that is a fave with festival-goers) has a range of chunky glitter pots, and our favourite is called Purple Unicorn, and you can apply it on your face, body and your hair.
4. A REFRESHING FACE MIST
Just because you’re at a festival doesn’t mean you can ditch your regular routine…. moisturiser is an absolute essential for festivals. But instead of making your bag heavy with lotions and potions, a facial spritz – like Clinique’s Moisture Surge – is ideal because you could use it on your body, as well. Happy spritzing!
5. COCONUT OIL FOR A GORGEOUS SCENT
Worried about losing your fave scent? Don’t. Slather Vita Coco Coconut Oil on to your skin to moisturise and you’ll smell DELICIOUS. It also doubles up as an eye makeup remover (don’t forget cotton pads) and you can add it to the ends of your hair to give you a tousled beach babe look. Don’t take the big tub though, decant it in to a little container, and remember – a little goes a long way.
7. DRY SHAMPOO TO KEEP YOUR HAIR IN CHECK
Washing your hair at a music festival is no mean feat, so make sure you pack your dry shampoo. There are loads available – Batiste is a favourite and it’s cheap as chips! Shake the can and hold 30cm away from the roots and spray.
8. RED LIPSTICK FOR VA VA VOOM
All fashion mavens will agree – Alexa Chung and Emma Stone included – that red lipstick can really amp up your festival look. Team your band tee, denim shorts and leather jacket with a slick of red lipstick and you’re good to go. You can’t go wrong with Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Satin Lip Colour in Pirate.
9. ELIMINATE SHINE WITH BLOTTING PAPER
You want to concentrate on the music at a festival, not spend time reapplying makeup in your tent, so we’ll be packing MAC’s Blot Film. It’s the ultimate festival essential. This handy handbag necessity leaves skin oil-free and mega-matte.
10. TEMPORARY TATTOOS FOR PURE FUN
Festivals are the perfect excuse to release your inner wanderluster, so how about a tattoo? Gold temporary tattoos were big last year, and now it’s all about white tattoos.
